Presentation Evening 2015/16

On Friday 24th June, the club held its presentation evening for the 2015/16 season. The turn-out was high and it was especially pleasing to see so many ex players come back to support the club. The night began with a player’s only Kangaroo Court to acknowledge some of the squad’s misdemeanours over the course of the season. As much as I’d like to divulge what went on here, it is strictly confidential! Then we got on with proceedings...

After a short debrief of the season just gone and a rallying cry for the season to come, the individual awards were presented. The decisions were not easy to come by and that is a testament to the hard work put in by many over the course of the year. After much deliberation, the coaching staff eventually settled on the following;

Most Promising Player – Rhydian Figoni

Most Improved Player – Harri Thomas

Clubman Of The Year – Lloyd Herbert

Player of the Year – Geraint Williams

There were also awards for Ashley Powell, who was the team’s leading try and point scorer and Geraint Williams for most appearances. We are also lucky to have a loyal band of ex players who support us and watch all of our games, both home and away. They put their heads together at the end of each season and pick their favourite player. The Veteran’s choice player of the season was hooker, Dyfan Watkins. Our final award of the evening was Player’s Player of the season. This is voted for by all of the current squad and the worthy recipient was Geraint Williams, taking his personal haul to three!

After the awards were handed out and the buffet was demolished, the festivities truly began. The alcohol began to flow and inhibitions were lost along with a lot of items of clothing. A few highlights included the relay boat race (Youth v Seniors v Past), the more comical awards being handed out and of course Rachel Stevenson (wife of coach Nick) absolutely murdering some Take That classics!

All in all, it was a fantastic night and congratulations again go to all of our award winners. The club’s focus now switches to preparation and training for the season ahead. A period which promises to be a very exciting one indeed. We hope to see as many of you as possible down at Cae Castell in the coming months.
